At least one pedigree published by MyHeritage claims that John Houston, here treated, is the same person as Sir John Houston of that Ilk, Baronet This is wrong. John Houston, here treated, is said to be the son of John Houston and his wife Sarah Tod and Sir John Houston of that Ilk, Baronet is in fact the son of Sir John Houston of that Ilk, 2nd Baronet and his wife Anne Drummond MyHeritage
According to the pedigree mentioned above, John Houston, here treated, married twice. First to Margaret Shaw and second to Sarah Tod MyHeritage Coincidentally, perhaps, Sir John Houston of that Ilk, Baronet was also married to a lady named Dame Margaret Shaw It should be noticed, however, that they are different people. Margaret Shaw the first wife of John Houston, here treateded, is reported to have died at Augusta County in Colonial Virginia in 1747, and Dame Margaret Shaw the wife of Sir John Houston of that Ilk, Baronet is reported to have died on 29 January 1750.
