<p>Known as Jack, also "The Laird". In World War I, he served with Josh at Gallipoli then on the western front. Wounded, convalesed in Scotland where he met a nurse. After the war they intended to marry but apparently there were no means of getting her to New Zealand. Eventually he married Auntie Jo (Dagmar Johansen). They had no children.</p>
