John Johnston, Major

John Johnston emigrated from Northern Ireland to Pennsylvania with his parents, John Johnston and Elizabeth (Campbell), and one sibling. He married his wife, Elizabeth Locke on May 17, 1762, in Rowan County, North Carolina. His wife was born in Pennsylvania in 1742 and died in 1815, one year before her husband, in Davidson, Tennessee.

John served in the American Revolutionary War as a Captain, and then was promoted to Major. He is buried in the Johnston Chapel Cemetery in Davidson, Tennessee. His grave denotes that he is a Patriot of the Revolutionary War. The tombstone can be viewed at Find A Grave and BillionGraves.
