Evidence for John Knouff (1838) being Jacob's father:

Jacob is his executor upon death

He seems to be the only one in the census records to have a son Jacob's age.

Catharine his wife (and perhaps he too) is reportedly buried in the same cemetery as Ann Mary Martin, who is explicitly Jacob's sister. Jeremiah Martin is mentioned in the probate records.
