KUBIE-John S. Of Purchase, NY died Monday, April 7 of complications from surgery. He was the former president and CEO of Seligman and Latz, Inc., a chain of beauty salons in fine department stores. Mr. Kubie was very active in the alumni affairs of Phillips Academy at Andover and Yale University and was also a long-time advocate for several non-profit agencies, most notably Grand Street Settlement and the Wiltwick School. He is survived by his dear friend Patricia Goldman, his children: Nancy Fenichel, John L. Kubie, Kathryn Kubie, and Lisa Kubie, and his grandchildren: Jesse, Willie and Teresa Fenichel, Sahrula Kubie, Nicole Quinn, and Leo and Marcus Stilwell. Adored husband of the late Marian (Latz) Kubie, cousin of Warren Heilbron, and friend to many. Services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 10 at the Congregation Emmanuel, 2125 Westchester Ave. East, Rye, NY. Contributions in his memory may be made to Grand Street Settlement, att: Marcela Hahn, 80 Pitt St., NY, NY 10002, to the White Plains Hospital Center, Development Office, Davis Ave. and East Post Rd., White Plains, NY 10601, or to the charity of your choice.

KUBIE-John S. The Board of Directors and staff of Grand Street Settlement are deeply saddened by the passing of John S. Kubie, a dedicated boardmember since 1969. Through his generosity, commitment, and service to Grand Street Settlement, Mr. Kubie enriched the Lower Eastside community and provided opportunities for its families.
