About John Albert Lares
John Albert Lares, 74, of 607 Russell St, died on Monday, March 27, 1967 in a local hospital after a long illness. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Lares (Deceased), he was born at Nuttall on Jan. 8, 1893.
He was a conductor for the C 0 Railway for 42 years until his retirement nine years ago. Lares was a member of the GallowayHeights Baptist Church and had been a resident of Raleigh County for the past 62 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Bailey-Lares (1898-1952) whom he married on November 7, 1921 in Beckley, Raleigh County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Raleigh County, WV, 1921, Page 61, Application Date: November 5, 1921).
Survivors include four sons, Raymond Lares of Beckley, Leo of Oak Grove, David Lares of IA, and John Albert Lares Jr. of Madison: two daughters, Christine Lares-Allen-Chervenak of Pennnington, NJ, and Wanda Lares-Gravely of Charleston; one sister, Barbara Lares-White of Hurricane; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. E. Walker and Rev. Kenneth Overdoff in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Calfee Funeral Home after noon today.
