John Edward Lawrence

LYONS - John E. Lawrence, 78, died Saturday night at Rice county district hospital following a five-month illness. Mr. Lawrence was born Aug. 6, 1883, in Rice Co. He was a farmer and stockman and had lived in the Lyons area all his life. He married the former Ella Crump, Nov. 5, 1903, here. He was a member of the Christian Church, Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club. One daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Alderman, died June 23, 1958. Survivors are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Maxine Forline, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Cleo Dickerson, Del Norte, Colo.; Mrs. Lucille Bengston, Rock Island, IL; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian Church, Rev. Don Clingan officiating. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery.
