John Wesley Lewis

John Wesley Lewis was born July 17, 1853 in Lawrence County, Ohio, United States. He was a son of George Sylvester Lewis (1833-1913) and Mary Elizabeth Sowards Lewis (1833-1909). He married Mary Griffin Stewart (1854-1941), daughter of William Franklin Stewart (1825-1906) and Mahala Jane Cremeens Stewart (1834-1918), in 1875 Ohio.

He passed away August 17, 1937 in Barboursville, Cabell County, West Virginia. He is buried in Blue Sulphur Cemetery, Ona, Cabell County, West Virginia.

John and Mary Lewis were the parents of James Burcham Lewis (1875-1957), George Franklin Lewis (1877-1958), Gillia Lewis Conard (1879-1959), Griffin Jefferson Lewis (1883-1963), John Calvin Lewis (1884-1929), Goldie Ellen Lewis Ford (1889-1951), and Verna Lewis Thompson (1897-1956).
