About John Askover Locock
There is some doubt about John Locock being the father of Joseph Patten. Many researchers place him as Joseph's father. John Locock certainly lived with Joseph's mother for some years before marrying her. Doubt exists about how early this occured. They were not in the same household during the 1841 census of Long Load.
John Locock was listed as lodger of Ann in 1851 census. Eventually married after the birth of all children except Sarah Ellen. Witnesses at the wedding were Amy Patten (X) and Joseph Patten. Both John and Ann made their mark (X).
