John Middleton Lyell

Hon. John M. Lyell, aged 71 years, died on Sept 10, 1916 at "Walnut Lawn" the home of his son, Dr. R. O. Lyell, near Warsaw. Mr. Lyell was a brave and gallant Confederate soldier, being a member of the 9th Virginia Cavalry, Company D., serving with distinction until the close of the war. For two terms he served the counties of Richmond and Lancaster in the Legislature of Virginia. He was survived by one brother, Mr. R. H. Lyell of Baltimore, three sons, Dr. R. O. Lyell, J. Milton Lyell and O. Peyton Lyell of Baltimore. and one daughter Mrs. P. G.( Mary Elizabeth) Hundley of Pembrooke VA. He was the son of Thomas S. Lyell and Mary Lyell Husband of Anna Doswell Booker
