McELHINNEY - JOHN. December 29, 2008. Peacefully at home after a long illness patiently borne aged 82 years. Beloved husband of Nancy, devoted father of Linda, special gramps to Adam. John will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral service at St Monica's Church on Wednesday 7th January at 1.45pm followed by cremation at Thornton crematorium. Family flowers only, but donations if desired to the British Heart Foundation, c/o Thompsons Funeral Service, 274 Bedford Road, Bootle, L20 9NE. Tel: 0151 933 0202 where John will be resting.

I open up my memory book of the things we used to do and as I turn the pages, my eyes are filling with tears, for although I have my memories, I can't hold back the years. I brought you home John, so that we would never be apart, our last days were together love, you were my true brave heart.) - Your broken hearted wife Nancy.

You were always there to listen and help me find my way, there's so much that I owe you for who I am today. So i'd like to say a thank you, though words don't seem enough to repay you for so many gifts but most of all you love.) - Your one and only daughter Linda.

McELHINNEY JOHN Mrs Nancy McElhinney and family would like to sincerely thank all their Family and Friends including the Residents of Oxford House for all the beautiful Mass and sympathy cards, also a special thank you to Dr Wright and Dr Stables and all Staff concerned at The Cardio Thoracic Centre, Broadgreen Hospital, the Enablement Team, Care Connect and the District Nurses of Bootle and Litherland. With a special mention to Barbara, Joe and Arnie who sat with JOHN, also Jane Hartley, JOHN's heart nurse for her consideration and care to us both, JOHN and I (Nancy), to Debbie Woods, Social Services for excellent customer service. To Mr Fred Swift for his weekly visits to JOHN and Deacon John for his interpretation on my husband's life during the service. Last but not least, Thompsons Funeral Directors, Bedford Road, Bootle for their professional and caring approach, ensuring the family had no concerns regarding the smooth running of the funeral and accompanying services.
