Deed No. 279, Book A., p.241-242 James Melton) to) 15 Acres 9 Oct. 1828 John Melton) This indenture made this ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight between James Melton of the county of Warren and State of Tennessee of the one part and John Melton of the county and State aforesaid of the other part withesseth: that the said James Melton for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold aliened released and confirmed...unto the said John Melton his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid on the waters of the Rock House fork of Stones River and bounded as follows to wit: Begining on an Elm about thirty poles South from the South West corner of a twenty acre survey in the name of James Melton Running thence west with the spur of a Mountain and Archelous Meltons line in all thirty six poles to said Meltons North West corner thence south with the said Meltons west boundary line fifteen poles to a Sugar Tree on South line in a steep hollow thence West forty-eight poles to a Black Gum on the spur of a large Ridge a natural boundary thence North crossing the top of said Ridge nineteen poles to a Sugar tree on a Steep Bluff thence East along said Bluff twenty eight poles to a Hack-berry - thence North eighteen poles to a Beech on said Bluff thence East with the same forty poles to a stake at the turn of said Ridge - thence East with the said ridge sixteen poles to said Meltons North Vest corner of a twenty acre tract thence South with his line and passing his corner in all forty one poles to the begining including the house where James Melton now lives containing fifteen acres of land be the same more or less... In testimony I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the ninth day of October 1828---
