John Hinchey Mitchell

There are not any primary sources which confirm the first name "John", as is published elsewhere online. It is thought that the idea that his name was "John Hinchey Mitchell" may have come from a misinterpretation of the opening words of his will, "I, Hinchey Mitchell" which can be transcribed (incorrectly) "J. Hinchey Mitchell." The marriage record index entry PDF attached to this profile may have come from a secondary source which also suffered from this misinterpretation.
