It has long been supposed that John Mulliken was the son of Ebenezer Mulliken and his first wife, Sarah (Platts) Mulliken. Ebenezer and Sarah, indeed, had a son named John Mulliken who was born in 1785 in Bradford, Essex County, Massachusetts. But there is no proof that the John Mulliken who married Abigail Cutler was the same person as the John Mulliken who was the son of Ebenezer and Sarah Mulliken of Bradford. Also, there have not been any records found that show the date of birth or the date of death of Abigail Cutler's husband, John Mulliken.
