John George Muntz

from "Family History", compiled 1965 by Mrs. Elmer Stewart:

John George Muntz left his native country on the first of April 1804, accompanied by his family. From the magistrate of his parish and county he received a clean pass and the best testimonials of good character as may be seen by the following document, copied from the original in possession of Henry Muntz:

(the following is a translation of the above mentioned):

"The bearer hereof, John George Muntz, of Hentenspach in the County of Backnang in Wurtenburg, 42 years old, of robust stature, pale countenance, black hair and black beard, with his wife Christina, 40 years old, and seven children, intend to emigrate with their family, going from here down to the Rhein Country to Amsterdam and thence to North America, they having conducted themselves at all times as good and loyal citizens, we give them this testimonial and further, that they leave their home - a clean and healthy location - free from any disease or epidemic and free from any charge or suspicion of wrong. All persons are, therefore, requested to let these nine persons pass and repass at all places without interruption or hindrance. In testimonial thereof witness the larger seal of our Court at Backnang and the signature of the Magistrate in said Court, as done this 31st day of March, 1804. (seal)
