John Needham purchased half the Manor of Cranage. He also took a 21-year lease on Shavington, Shropshire, at £12/13/4 per annum, and, when the lease expired in 1461, he purchased the Manor of Shavington. He died without issue on April 25th, 1480 (monument once in Holmes Chapel Parish Church), and his heir was his great-nephew, William Needham, the grandson of his brother, Thomas (1487 Inquisition Post Mortem). knighted on May 20th, 1464, and Common Sergeant of London in 1449, an M.P. for London in 1450, one of the Judges of the Court of King's Bench in 1461, and Chief Justice of Chester
