About John O'Callaghan
His Life - Taken from essay by Michael A. McKernan, Esq. Media, PA 1831-1914 , Kilmacthomas, Ireland
John married Alicia Walsh. They lived in County Waterford, Kilmacthomas Ireland. They owned a great many things including a large farm with a stable of racehorses and factories (mills). John was a close friend and supporter of Charles Steward Parnell. John was a proponent of tenant rights and eventually was imprisoned in Limerick where it is believed he died. His family lost their holdings to the "Crown of England" due to his political and social beliefs. His wife and younger children moved to Waterford after his death.
When John and Alicia's grandson, Frank O'Callaghan visited Ireland in 1980, they discovered that the local people still refer to the house at the O'Callaghan Farm even though no O'Callaghan had lived there for over a century.
