On January 7, 1896 he was married to Adelia Newham. To this union two sons were born - Edward ( Edmond ) N. and John Samuel, the latter dying at the age of four years.

In February, 1900, the family moved to Ray County , Missouri , but in a few months after arriving, the home was broken by the death of the wife and mother.

March 3, 1903, Mr. Bowman was married to Kittie Keim, and again knew the joy of a happy Christian home. To this union one son, Vernon K. was born.

Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife, tow sons, Edward ( Edmond ) N. of Ludlowville , N.Y. and Vernon K., of Norborne , Missouri . Also his mother, Mrs. Annie Bowman of Timberville, Virginia, four grandchildren, Floy Ann and Mary Phyllis, children of Edmond Bowman and J.W. Paul and Barbara, children of Vernon K. Bowman. Early in life he united with the Church of the Brethren and served his church faithfully throughout the years. Because of his dependability and consecrated life the church called him to the office of deacon. He also served as trustee of the local church for many years. The District of Northern Missouri called him to serve on the District Mission Board and thus extended his services to Christ and the Church…
