About John Shelby
John Shelby was born October 12, 1865 in Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio.
His father, David Shelby, was a native of Ohio. His mother, Margaret Mason, was a native of West Virgina. He had two brothers.
John graduated from No. Indiana Normal School in Valparasio, Indiana.
He married in Ohio to Laura Jane Young March 6, 1888.
After leaving Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Shelby lived ten years in Arkansas and ten years in Kansas. They moved to Oklahoma, settling on a farm two miles northeast of Alex. In 1924, the moved to Alex.
He had fours sons: Maxwell, Joe Roy, E. Booth, and James Mason.
