The Gedcom of Stoley/Swanson/Lee/Harvey/Musson/Brewer/Rhodes/Doyle/Clingan, found in the Family Trees at Rootsweb.com, has a John Livert Stole, born June 8, 1868 in Norway as the father of a son named Alvald Stole. I believe it's very likely this is John Sivert Stole and his son, Alvald (named after John's brother, father and grandfather). The date of birth for John differs by 8 years from that given in the 1880 census, however. Given that the owner of this Gedcom has John's middle name wrong, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that his date is wrong, also. Then again, the census taker may have been mistaken. At any rate, I'm convinced this is the same man. What really definitively makes this so is the fact that the Gedcom says John's parents were Lars Stole and Anna. Bingo!
