John Summers, of Rochester

5 MARY2 SAMSON (Henry1) b. Duxbury; d. bef. 1686 (2nd m.)

She m. bef. 24 Dec. 1684 JOHN SUMMERS (or SOMERS); d. Rochester bet. 7 Sept. 1721 and 1 Feb. 1721/2; perhaps son of John Summers, minister (named in will of John Parker of Taunton as "brother" on 6 Nov. 1665); or poss. son of Walter Summers of Pennsford, England.

The will of Henry1 Samson, dated 24 Dec. 1684, names "Mary my daughter ... wife of John Summers."

He m. (2) bef. 1686 Elizabeth Branch, b. Marshfield 14 Oct. 1656; d. Rochester 29 Nov. 1715 in 60th yr.; dau. of John Branch. The will of John Branch of Marshfield, dated 6 July 1699, names wife Mary, dau. Elizabeth Somers and grandson John Somers. John and Elizabeth Somers had in Marshfield: Elizabeth, John, Mary and Nathan; then in Rochester: Sarah, Jeneverah and Keziah. John was "of Rochester".

He m. (3) Scituate 26 Nov. 1716 Elizabeth Booth, b. Scituate 5 1657; living 1722 "widow of John"; dau. of John Booth.

Notes

The will of John Parker of Taunton dated 6 Noy- 1665 gave to "my broyther Mr. John Summers minnester the sum of five pounds, and five pounds to Mr. John Summers his eldest son"; also to Samuel Summers and to the three daus. Elizabeth, Mary and Abigail.

On 6 Oct. 1702 John Somers of Dartmouth, tanner, discharged of debt three men, attorneys in England to receive the bequest of his father, Walter Somers late of Penndford.

John Summers was appointed administrator of "your father John Summers late of Rochester deceased" on 1 Feb. 1721 [1721/2]. Her rights in the estate were set off to widow Elizabeth Summers 9 Feb. 1721/2.

Apparently no children for John and Mary (Samson) Summers.
