John Wood Talley

John Talley served during the War of 1812 from about March 20 to July 4, 1813 and for a second period in 1814 as a private under Captain Patrick Anderson of the 74th Regiment of the Virginia Militia. In 1877 his wife Sarah B. (Williamson) Talley applied for a pension at the age of 89 but the application was rejected based on a determination that John was paid for (and therefore served) a total of 9 days in 1813 whereas 14 days of service were required for a pension.
