Potential for Carey being a partner of John Cunningham. She was left in his will obtaining 324 acres of land.
John Cunningham was the first Child of William and Nancy (Carr) Cunningham. He was 22 years old when he came to Trigg County Kentucky in 1818. At the Trigg County courthouse it shows that John bought land, sold land and paid his taxes. After his death, there was an appraiser who listed everything to be sold including the value of his slaves. There is also a copy of John's will in the clerk's office in Cadiz, KY. John is buried next to his wife polly on a hill next to his home. On his tombstone is an inscription that is popular in Scotland and England:
Remember me as you pass by,
As you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so will you be,
Prepare for death and follow me.
