After his mother died, John was still in school and moved in with his older sister Dorothy and her husband Robert in MA.
He served in Korea from October 14, 1953 to October 13, 1955 in the USMC. His highest rank was C-1.

John Joesph Wascher
Age 51 of 12200 189th Court, Jupiter, Florida September 18th at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Miami. Born in Amityville, New York, he had been a resident of Jupiter for the past 10 years coming from Boston, MA. Mr. Wascher was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Tequesta and a member of the American Legion in Jupiter.
Survivors include his wife Marcia of Jupiter; step daughter Andria Maichi of Saugus, MA. One brother James Wascher of Marietta Georgia and 2 sisters Dorothy Wheeler of Biddeford, ME and Margaret Weed from Massapequa, New York.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday September 23, 1987 at 9:30 am at St. Judes Catholic Church in Tequesta. Interment will be at Queen of Peace Cemetery, West Palm Beach. Friends may call Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at Aycock Villiage Funeral Home in Jupiter Florida
