John Herbert Wellman

John H. Wellman, age 79, of 2139 E. Wilmar Dr., Quincy, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on January 10, 1933 in Quincy, a son of Wilbur & Louise (Schreacke) Wellman. He married Alice Goodpaster on January 26, 1957 in Alexandria, VA. She survives.

John served in the U.S. Army. He was a Culver Stockton College graduate and received his Masters from Michigan State University. He was a self employed CPA. He formerly was employed as a college professor at MacMurray College, Jacksonville, IL. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

John enjoyed playing tennis and all sports.

In addition to his wife, Alice, he is survived by: SIX CHILDREN: Cindy Drerup and husband Dexter of Blue Springs, MO, Beth Daniels of Harrison, AR, Jane Capshaw of Evansville, IN, Sue Myracle and husband Roy of Newburgh, IN, Sherry Partin and husband Mike of Sikeston, MO and John C. Wellman of St. Louis, MO; ELEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Courtney Drerup, Danny Drerup, Ashley Daniels, Ricky Daniels, Alex Daniels, Chuck Capshaw, Hayley Capshaw, Amanda Myracle, Jordyn Myracle, Alecia Partin and Zac Partin ONE SISTER: Carlene Waack Numerous nieces, nephews and others relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Florence Obert & Bernice Petro.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by Fr. Tom Fox. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran's Home with Military Rites. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church or St. Anthony Catholic Church.
