John Grover Wilkins

My mother, Anna Dayle, said that her dad died of Smoke Inhalation from a huge fire at a Tire Warehouse. She said he was sick for weeks after the fire, had developed pneumonia and passed away from that. She was with him when he died. She said he couldn't breath and the only thing that seemed to help him was if they put his bed right under the window and lifted him up to breath from it. It was winter and very cold out. She said he kept wanting to be lifted up to breath. I think she said it was 3 weeks after the fire, or something like that. He had had the pneumonia for 2 weeks. She said he came home from the fire with lung damage from inhaling the smoke and never recovered. He was bedridden from the fire on. She was 17 at the time, I believe.
