John Wingfield, son of Thomas and Mary Stegal (1, 2, 3) was born about 1695 in New Kent County Virginia. (2) He married in 1702 Mary “Polly” Hudson in Hanover County Virginia. (3) He and Mary lived most of their lives in the Tidewater section, of Virginia in Hanover County VA. When Mary’s father, Captain Charles Hudson died, Mary inherited 560 acres of land in Albemarle County, VA. This land, a working plantation , named Prospect, was in the Biscuit Run Valley near the fork of the Hardware River, and about eight miles south of Charlottesville,, not far from Monticello. When the Homestead was built is not known. It still stand and is believed to be the oldest homestead in Albemarle County. John died in Hanover County VA 1755/1759 in Hanover County. John. Wingfield & wife Mary Hudson::: Nicholas Johnston & wife Eliz.; R. Walton & wife Rebecca; Rich. Holland & wife Sarah, Joseph Lewis &wife Anne, and Christopher Hudson to John. Hudson, 7 slaves of estate of Charles Hudson, deceased., Hanover Co. Assigned by Charles Hudson, to be given to John Hudson, but by some oversight left out of will and William. Hudson, eldest son, claimed them. Lawsuit pending for sometime in General Court and finally Wm. gave up his pretention's to John.

A William and John GILLIAM oversee the sale of his estate.]
