Obituary of John Steven Zales John Steven Zales, 80, of Lynnfield and formerly of Lynn, retired President of the National Calander Co. of Lynn died Saturday morning at his home after a short illness.

He was born in Lynn on May 15, 1924, the son of the late Steven and Helen Rose (Latauskus) Zales and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School in 1942 where he played on the football team.

After graduation, he entered the US Army serving during WW 11.

Following his discharge, he started working in the Family business, the National Colander Co. of Lynn taking over from his father and worked as president for 45 years. For the past fifteen years he worked there in his Semi-retirement prior to his illness.

He loved to cook and was an avid football college Fan. He was the former husband of Ruth (Murphy) Zales.

He is survived by a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Rose and Barry Santo of Malden, a son, Andrew W. Rothwell of Barnstead, NH, a grandson and his wife, Jason and Sheri Santo of Medford, 2 sisters, Florence Mc Donough of Nahant and Helen Shanoski of Montana and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home 20 Church St., Peabody location. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.
