Son of Basil Harvey and Elizabeth Lewis

Married Sarah Harbert, 31 Jan 1819

History - Jonathan was the oldest of his parents' eight children. Not much is known of his early life. His family moved to Harrison County, West Virginia , sometime after 1803.

In 1819 Jonathan married Sarah. They settled in Clarksburg, West Virginia, where four children were born. Jonathan joined the Church in 1832. He and his family were apparently part of the Missouri problems as his name is on the petition to congress for reimbursement of damages in that state. We know he moved his family back to the Nauvoo area, because his oldest daughter was married in Adams County in 1842. His son, Lewis, was married in Council Bluffs on 6 April 1849.

In the spring of 1850, the family started West with Jonathan, Sarah, Cecelia and her two children, Lewis and his family, Elizabeth and Alfred. The following October they were called to help settle Pleasant Grove. At President Young 's suggestion the town built a fort and everyone moved into it as a precaution against the Indians. Jonathan lived there with his family until his death at the age of 68.
