Obituary - Benson
Joseph Benson, son of Charles and Sarah Benson, was born in the town of Mineral Point, Iowa county, Wisconsin, June 6, 1872, and died after a long and painful illness Monday morning, February 19, 1934, aged 61 years, 8 months and 13 days.
He was united in marriage to Clara Whitford, of Willow Springs, August 18, 1895. hildren born into the home were Sarah (deceased), Russell, Francis, Joseph, Charles, Walter and Caroline who died in infancy.
Mr. Benson was a member of Blue Lodge, Chapter and Commmandery of the Masonic order, in Mineral Point. When the Methodist church was organized in Willow Springs, he became one of the trustees, serving one year as president of the board. He was a regular attendant of the church and Sunday school.
He has lived his entire life at the old home, and was a successful farmer.
He leaves to mourn his death his wife and children, seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Prudence Bracken of Willow Springs, and Mrs. Martha Beach of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two brothers in Mineral Point, Walter and Will.
Funeral services were held Wednesday from the home, Rev. G.S. Joslin, the pastor, officiating and interment was in the Mineral Point cemetery. The services at the grave were conducted by the Masonic order.
