"The Bonds traveled to America from England somewhere between 1735-1739. Joseph was following his brother John who came to America earlier. Joseph met Martha on the ship. They had to work for their passage and then they married in Bucks County, PA. The Bonds were Quakers and because Joseph married outside of the Quaker rules, he was dismissed. One source say he was born June 11, 1708--not possible-mother died in 1704.

Joseph Bond b: 6 Aug. 1704, Devizes, Wilts, England met Martha Rogers on the ship. They had to work for their passage and then they married in Bucks Co. PA. The Bond's were Quakers and because Joseph married outside of the Quaker rules, he was dismissed. Joseph and Martha had 5 children in Pa, then moved to Guilford Co. NC. After the move, 2 more sons were born.
Joseph's brother John travelled to America and Joseph followed.
Joseph was the son of Benjamin Bond and Susannah "Ann" Paradise.
Benjamin is the son of Edward Bond and Mary Moore.
Edward is the son of Robert Bond and Mary Critcher. Robert born 1615, Moreton, Berkshire, England.
Edward died as a martyr for religious reasons.

The Bonds were Quakers of Bewley, Laycock Parish, Wilthire, England.
BENJAMIN BOND, son of EDWARD, was married 20 Feb 1686 in Slaugherford, England to ANN PARADISE. They were the parents of 3 known children:
(1) Edward Bond, a druggist maker, married at Bidston 20 Apr 1720 in Chippenham to Mary Smith.
(2) John Bond was born 21 Feb 1701; married Sarah Cajwalader, 29 Jan 1725.
(3) JOSEPH BOND (1704-17__ ).JOSEPH BOND was born 6 Aug 1704 at Devises, Wilts, England; died in New Garden, North Carolina (now Guilford College). It is tradition that Joseph came to Pennsylvania in 173_ and after working out his passage to this country as a bound servant, he married MARTHA ROGERS. They lived in Bucks Co., Pa., later moving to Guilford Co., N.C., where they died. They were the parents of 7 children:
(1) Edward Bond was born 26 Sept 1740; married Ann Mills, 16 Aug 1764.
(2) Benjamin Bond was born 1742.
(3) Ruth Bond was born 1744/45; married Benjamin Walton.
(4) Stephen Bond.
(5) Ann Bond married Cohorn or Cochron.
(6) Samuel Bond was born 2 Dec 1753.

JOSEPH BOND 1704-1760 Joseph arrived at Philadelphia and was bound or put under contract to someone to labor for his passage to this country. After gaining his liberty, he and Martha Rogers were married, though I have not found any proof of this marriage in any of the records in Philadelphia or among Friends. In a manuscript left by Edward Bond Sr., son of Joseph, in which he is writing about the last sickness and disease of his sister, Ruth Walton, he mentions his father there. She was the daughter of Joseph Bond and Martha Rogers, his wife who lived in the early part of this time in Bucks County in or near Richmond Township, Pennsylvania who afterward moved to New Garden, North Carolina and there deceased and was buried at New Garden, Guilford County, North Carolina. Edward - born in Bucks Co., Penn. Sept. 26, 1740, moved with his parents to North Carolina 1750 or 1751 - when they settled near New Garden, now Guilford College. My knowledge of his history has been almost altogether obtained from the following sources and records: The records of Friends (American Quaker Genealogy, kept by their monthly meetings; deed records; from the writing of friends; and his own manuscript. 1810 - Edward and son, Joseph, and their families moved to Indiana Territory and settled on a farm on the middle fork of White Water, six miles NNE of Richmond. Ann Mills - daughter of John and Sarah (Beals) Mills, John Mills being the son of a John Mills, who immigrated from England to Philadelphia and afterward settled on Opegum Creek near Winchester, Virginia (pg. 16 Bond Genealogy) Born May 1745, O.S. in Frederick Co., Virginia, moving with her parents to North Carolina about 1751 or 1752. She died in Wayne County, Indiana April 3, 1826, her husband Edward Bond having passed away nearly five years prior to her disease, he having died May 6, 1821.
