He may have died in 1836. He was a son of Joseph Collard who was killed at Wood's Fort (now Troy), Lincoln County, Missouri during the War of 1812 and Margaret Kennedy.

He married Mary Null on July 11, 1815 in St. Charles County, Missouri.

He was a War of 1812 soldier in Daniel Morgan Boone's company of Missouri Mounted Rangers (May-Dec 1813 & Jan-May 1814) and Captain Callaway's Company of Missouri Militia (May 22, 1814 - May 22, 1815). He received bounty land for his service.
