About Joseph Claybourne Eyring

Joseph Clayborne Eyring, 86, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Sunday, December 22, 1996 at Crestview Care Center, Provo, Utah.

Born November 12, 1910 at Colonia Juarez, Mexico, son of Edward Christian Eyring and Caroline Romney Erying, he received his early education in Pima, Arizona. A graduate of Brigham Young University, he received his Master's degree from University of California, Berkeley. He married Lavon Brunt in 1933. Following her death in January 1989, he married Margaret Smart Fife.His thirty year career as a realtor in California preceded his retirement move to Provo, Utah. While in Berkeley, he serve as president of the Realty Board, and president of the Rotary Club. Active in LDS Church affairs in both California and Utah, he served as an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple.

Mr. Eyring is survived by his wife, Margaret of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Phillip M. Eyring of Moraga, Calif.; and Joseph S. Eyring of Vallejo, Calif. and four daughters, Lynette Wasden of Walnut Creek, Calif.; Caroline Howells of Reno, Nev.; Margaret Harjunpaa of Carmichael, Calif. and Janet Eyring of Diamond Bar, California. He was preceded in death by one son, Carl; surviving sisters and brothers include: Catherine Edwards, Caroline Miner, Ruth Williams, Maurine Boyd, Rose Calder, Ethel Taylor, Genevieve Layton, and LeRoy Eyring.

He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 27, 1996, at the Edgemont North 13th Ward Chapel, 4000 Foothill Drive, Provo, with viewing form 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Directors, Berg Mortuary of Provo. Interment at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, Provo.
