About Joseph Abner Jones
Joseph A was married to Almeta "Mettie" Harkey. She was born in Missouri and died in Arkansas. They lived for 3 years in Arkansas in a settlement near Hatengap. Joe was born to them. My information was told to me but I need to dig further to see who told me. Leona told me a lot of stuff. Joe was born to them. When Mettie died, Joseph A married Josephine Bourke. They had Dixie and Dewey (twins). I visited Dixie in 1978. She was living with her daughter Nelle Bell. Dixie's memory was pretty much gone. Nelle Bell told me Joseph A was a cattle rustler and in the last year of his life she would hear him talking as though he was there. Earnest said his grandfather was not a rustler but he loved his grandad and would not have wanted to believe that about him. There is an article in the San Saba News, Oct 5, 1911: "EA Jones of Dardenvelle, Arkansas, spent last week with his cousin JW Jones..." I'll keep digging.
