About Joseph Guillaume "William" Landry
Note: Guillaume is the French version of William.
Joseph William Landry is not my great uncle. He is my great grandfather. He is the father of 22 children and Adolphus Landry is No. 18 and Pascal Landry is No. 19.
Desiree Coutu is my great grandmother, marriage #2 of Joseph William Landry. Joseph William Landry had a first marriage to Esther German-Belisle. She died after having six of his children. The rest of the 16 children are the children by Desiree Coutu.
Moved his family from Berthier, Quebec where he was born, to Rhode Island and back 6 times having the last sixteen (16) children. Some were born in Berthier, QC and died in RI. Others born in RI and died in QC. Some were married in RI and returned to Canada. Many of their children and/or grandchildren moved back into the states--mainly RI and MA.
Joseph William Landry had a first marriage to Esther Germain-Belisle and they had six (6) children. At some point she became very ill and Desiree Coutu took care of her until her death in 1861. Within a year or two of her death, he married Desiree Coutu.
GEDCOM Note ===
Marked by the birth of daughter Amanda Landry in Burrilville, Rhode Island in 1871, it seems Joseph William must have emigrated to the US, with his family, from Berthier County, Quebec prior to 1871. As is noticed by the location of the birth of their many children, this family moved back and forth from Berthier to Rhode Island many times. Amanda was born in RI in 1871 and the first Pascal was born in RI in May of 1873, but was buried in Berthier in July 1873. Urgel was born in Berthier in 1874, Adolphus in RI in 1876, Marie Anne in Berthier in1877, Pascal W. in Berthier in1878, William in RI in 1880, and Celina in RI in 1885. Finally, Joseph William died in Berthier in 1889. The number of changes of address counts to six in 18 years. Since he was a day laborer, he was probably forced to move to where he could find work.

1880 was living in Burrillville, RI where he was working in a Cotton Mill.
