About Joseph Everett Loucks

Joseph Everett,son of Peter and Anna Loucks was born in Fillmore, Missouri on August 29 1859 and departed this life on October 4,1940 at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 5 days.
He grew to manhood at Mound City, Mo. attended the Deaf-Mute schools in Omaha Nebraska.
In 1886 at the age of 26 years he home- steaded in Imperial, Nebraska. In October 24, 1893 he was married to Maude Lillian Hazen. They came to Frankfort in 1894 where they have resided ever since.
To this union was born four children, William Loucks, Frankfort, Kansas, Bush Loucks, Aurora, Colorado, Omar Royal Loucks, who died in infancy and Ruie Shope Loucks, Frankfort, Kansas. In 1930 he became a member of the Deaf-Mute Lutheran church.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Maude; his sons, and daughter Mrs. Otis Shope; one brother, George Loucks of Mound City and foster sister, Nettie Smith Los Angeles, California; ten grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Loucks has lived amoung us for 45 years and we have always found him to be honor- able, upright man, a kind and loving father, and a true friend. He is loved by all of his neighbors and friends. He was a Christian and by his everyday living set forth an example that we all loved and respected.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 1940 at Oelkers Chapel
Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Kansas.
