Joseph Pendal

Joseph Pendal (Pendle) was born in 1796, probably in Hockwold, Norfolk and married a Frances, also from the Hockwold/Feltwell area. One of their children, Catherine, born in 1830, married George Walker of Feltwell. In the 1841 census Joseph (45), an agricultural labourer, Frances (45) and Catherine (11) were living in Hockwold. In the census their name is Pendle. In the census of 1861 Joseph (68) is listed in the extraparochial area of Redmore as a widower agricultural labourer living at the Watermans Arms. Joseph Pendal is listed in the register of deaths for Thetford in July-Sep 1864 and, again, age is given as about 68.
