BIO: Not much is known about Joseph Pitchlynn except that he had the advantage of an education, being one of John Pitchlynn's sons. He helped to influence the Southern District of the Choctaw Nation to agree to contribute a part of their annuities to the mission school set up by the Reverend Mr. Cyrus Kingsbury in 1820. He married Eve Folsom, daughter of Edmund Folsom. They had only two children William Boykin and Joseph Jr. After his death Eve married Jack Riddle.
