About Joseph Roditi
Lived in beautiful Villa on Seine (Villene sur seine) village on island . Eric used to stay with him. (EG from ER 2009)
In 1911 Joseph and Jenny lived at 10 Sefton Rd ,Chorlton cum Hardy, South Manchester. Joseph was then a shipping merchant of calico dress material, exporting to Persia via Tabriz among other places. Post the Russian revolution of 1917, transporting goods via Tabriz became more risky, so he switched to exporting via Khoramsahr, Ahvaz, and from Basra. His business operated out of rented acommodation in central Manchester at 57 and 61 George St Mnachester, not far from Souvazoglu business offices. Perhaps he may have been a customer of the Imperial Bank of Persia. Joseph was a Freemason with the rank of ‘Senior Deacon’ in 1903, as his names appears among the list of Freemason in notices in local Manchester papers at that time
