Although frequently placed as Joseph Jefferson Rogers there is no evidence of a middle name (same for his sons, we know the initial for Edley is H, and we know no middle name for Henry).

Though family members did apply as Eastern Cherokee, they based the claim on the 1835 roll, which was done 21 years after Joseph died.

DNA from multiple descendants of Henry and Edley confirms that they are descendants of Doswell Rogers. They also show a match to descendants of several of the children of Elisha Wallen and Mary Blevins
