Joseph Wellington Scott

Mr. Scott, 87, of Charlotte, NC, died April 19, 2009. He was born in Esmont, VA to the late Rev. Isaac A. and Mary Scott. He retired from the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System after 30 years of teaching at West Charlotte High School.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. The Omega Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at 12 noon on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at First Baptist Church-West. The body will lie in state on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Oaklawn Park.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Monroe D. Scott, Francis W. Scott, and Isaac A. Scott, III.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie Scott; children, Joanne Edington (Charles II), and Harry (Carol); grandchildren, Charles III (Natalie), Scott Eddington, Kristen Saunders (Gary), Joseph W. Scott, II, Jacqueline Scott; siblings, Madolia Chambers, Harriet Mary Janet Coleman (Alden); in-laws, Sarah Clayton (Joseph), Harriet Williams (Alvin); five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
