He enlisted in the American army in 1775, served under Captain Curtis and Starr, Col. Hinman, Connecticut Militia. Re-enlisted in 1776, serving under Capt. Bostwick and Col. Webb. He was at the battles of Royalton, White Plains, Trenton, and Bennington. He was Granted a pension in 1823.

His funeral was held at Westfield, N. Y., and it is believed he was buried in that town.
