March 5, 1846--Josephine is attending the Troy Female Seminary, Troy, New York. [As per her school notebook, which is in the possession of Charles E. Rounds, Jr., 107 Mt. Vernon Street, Boston, MA 02108 (2020). In the inside cover she describes herself as being from Middletown, Connecticut. The first half of the notebook records her Botany class lectures. There were 13 girls enrolled in the Botany class. The school changed its name to The Emma Willard School for girls in 1895. In 1910, a new campus was built for the school on Mount Ida.].

July 10, 1854--Josephine Scovil owns shares in the New York & New Haven Railroad: Cert. No. 2343, dated Aug. 28, 1851; Cert. No. 3405, dated Sept. 3, 1852; Cert. No. 1567, dated March 16, 1854.
