His mother Elizabeth Johnson remarried in 1812 a Francis M. Thompson. They migrated, taking Joshua A. ROACH with them to AL., TN., GA. then Indian Territory. (check to see if he appears in the Johnson household in these states census' as: JOSHUA THOMPSON)

Joshua A. Roach's Land (from the 1827 lottery) bordered the Harlan's land, which is probably were he met Almira.

The conflict I find here is that Joshua A. Roach is on the 1817 Emigration Roll. He would have only been 10 yrs old! His age is confirmed not only by his grandfather's will (John Roach), but also by the 1860 Whites Living in Indian Territory Census, that lists him as 53, born in VA. Descendants of his step father Francis Thompson (Cynthia Dahl in OR.), have records listing Joshua as the step son, and his marriage to Elmira Harlan. I still can't figure how he was on the emmigration roll.
