Joshua Joseph Veazey

Joshua was a minor when his father died and he was only 15 when his mother died. A John Marcer (sic) was listed as his guardian after his mother died. Was this the same John Mercer who was the father of Ann Mercer who married Dr David Davis and was the mother of Judge David Davis?

Lived in New Iberia. The 1840 Census listed Agriculture as occupation, 8 slaves and 1 free colored person. He died on, or shortly before June 1842, and left land valued at $1200, other assets and holdings of $2021.

Joshua Joseph Veazey was born in 1779 in Cecil, Maryland. He married Elizabeth Perina Bazinet on December 13, 1807, in New Orleans, Louisiana. They had 13 children in 23 years. He died on June 4, 1842, in St Martinville, Louisiana, at the age of 63.
