Josiah served in the Kentucky Militia during the Revolutionary War in Capt. Dillard's Co., then Capt. Herrod's, then Lt. Patterson's who would become Col., & Capt. Holder who's Company was with Daniel & Edward Boone when the latter was killed by Indians at Blue Lick, Clark Co., KY. Their Company was charged with the burial of Edward at Boone Station, KY. Finally, until the end of 1782 serving with Capt. McConnell under General George Rogers Clark.
