About Jovito Abad Avanceña

Jovito served with the 1571st Wing, Air Transport Command, United States Air Force, based at Nichols Field, Manila, in 1945. In 1946, he was selected by Col. Jesus A. Villamor to join the Bureau of Aeronautics. He was the only Filipino on the ground crew servicing the four-engine aircraft (“Bataan”) of Supreme Allied Commander Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
