Emigrated from Austria ca 1888 (death notice in Chicago Tribune) 15 Jul 1944: "Mrs. Anna Lowenheim, 96, first matron of the Chicago Home for Jewish Orphans and widow of the Rev. Dr. A. A. Lowenheim, first superintendent of the home and rabbi of Congregation Anshe Emet of Chicago, died yesterday in her home at 1609 Albion av. She came to Chicago from Austria 60 years ago. Surviving are her son, Arnim Kraus, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at 5206 Broadway." Chicago Tribune 16 Jul 1944:Anna Lowenheim [nee Bymel], beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. A. A. Lowenheim, devoted mother of Arnim Kraus, and the late Mollie Engleberg, dear grandmother of two, great-grandmother of two, fond sister of Yetta Bymel. Services Monday, 2 p.m., at chapel, 5206 Broadway.
