Juliana (Simolunas) Banovic, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2008, at Lourdes Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Paul Banovic; her parents, John Simolunas and Amelia Kazenas; her stepfather, Vincent Kazenas; two brothers, Joseph and Stanley Simolunas. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Kathleen Banovic, and Martin Banovic, all of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Bill and Angel Banovic, Chuck and Dana Imm, Darcey and Andrew Merriam, Tamara and Dirk Johnson, and Stephen and Christine Banovic; six great-grandchildren; a cousin, Florence and Walt Ewanow; and several nieces who remember the wonderful doll clothes she made. Julie was a member of St. Joseph's Lithuanian Church, now the Church of the Holy Trinity, and member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was an excellent seamstress and cake decorator.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
