From The (New York City) Daily Register, of Friday, Dec. 27, 1872:
Funeral of the late John Slosson
Despite the inclement weather, a large number of the friends of the late Judge Slosson assembled yesterday at the Reformed Church, Twenty-First Street and Fifth Avenue, to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased.
The casket, which was of rosewood, silver-mounted, and lined inside with white satin, was placed on a catafalque in the aisle, and was heavily laden with floral offerings.
The Rev. E. S. Rogers read the funeral service and delivered a eulogy upon the life and character of the deceased.
The following gentlemen officiated as pall-bearers: Richard Lawrence, H. K. Bogart, Augustus Schell, E. S. Van Winkle, Benjamin D. Greenman, L. B. Woodruff, Murray Hoffman, James M. Morrison, Waldo Hutchins, and John Auchincloss.
In consequence of the prevailing storm, the remains will be kept in the church until today, when they will be removed to Greenwood.
